The TIPTOE project tackles the problem of interpretation and application of EQFprinciples within one sector: the trade sector. Moreover, TIPTOE proposes to overcome not only the gap between the different European VET- and qualification systems, but also the (cultural) differences in the content and interpretation of occupations on the European labour market in the trade sector.

The TIPTOE project starts from the assumption that the labour market and the educational field both have their own truths and values. That's why labour market and educational investigations are to be conducted seperately, giving as much room as possible to the interpretation and argumentation of allocating occupations or qualifications/VET-programmes to an EQF-level .

The result of this endeavour is an integrated map for the two areas (education and labour market), as well as a set of guidelines for the interpretation and application of EQF.

Major steps and outcomes:

1.	Research and analysis on occupational profiles and educational competence profiles in the trade sector.

2.	Creation of a European map of occupations, linked to EQF;

3.	Creation of a European map of educational standards, linked to EQF;

4.	"EQF rulers" for the trade sector in order to compare different profiles, using EQF as a common language;

5.	EQF map, with results of the occupational and educational standards in one synthesis;

6.	Testing results by the partners;

7.	Guidelines for implementation;
