The first edition of the Paris International Conference on Education, Economy and Society was held from July

17 to July 19, 2008. More than 500 academics and practitioners from 50 countries attended the meeting. More than 450 contributions were presented, covering all major themes of Education.

Following the same design, the 2010 conference is intended to be a forum, discussion and networking place for academics, researchers, professionals, administrators, educational leaders, policy makers and industry representatives interested in Education.All areas of Education are invited, as are economic, political, cultural and social themes relating to Education.The languages of the conference will be English and French.

Reading, writing, the theatre, illustration, the cinema, photography, science and civic awareness are some of the lines along which the activities organised in León and other Spanish cities will focus in May in a multidisciplinary project that aims to get all citizens involved and the necessary social complicity to achieve its goal, namely teaching to teach and educating to educate. In this regard, the festival is particularly aimed at families, children and teenagers, as well as the teaching community.

The Meeting of Directors-General for Vocational Training is an informal meeting held during every EU Presidency. The conference will provide new perspectives on how tax incentives are being used by governments to promote education and training.

Specifically, the workshop will

disseminate results of Cedefop's study , 'The use of tax incentives to support education and training in six selected Member States' (Germany, France, Ireland, Austria, the Netherlands and Finland);
highlight good practice in the tax treatment of education and training;
discuss research results on the impact tax systems have on education and training decisions and on different ways to encourage lifelong learning.
