The first edition of the Paris International Conference on Education, Economy and Society was held from July

17 to July 19, 2008. More than 500 academics and practitioners from 50 countries attended the meeting. More than 450 contributions were presented, covering all major themes of Education.

Following the same design, the 2010 conference is intended to be a forum, discussion and networking place for academics, researchers, professionals, administrators, educational leaders, policy makers and industry representatives interested in Education.All areas of Education are invited, as are economic, political, cultural and social themes relating to Education.The languages of the conference will be English and French.

Reading, writing, the theatre, illustration, the cinema, photography, science and civic awareness are some of the lines along which the activities organised in León and other Spanish cities will focus in May in a multidisciplinary project that aims to get all citizens involved and the necessary social complicity to achieve its goal, namely teaching to teach and educating to educate. In this regard, the festival is particularly aimed at families, children and teenagers, as well as the teaching community.

EUCIS-LLL, civil society’s European platform for Lifelong Learning, promotes cooperation between different networks working at EU level on education or training. Together, these networks cover all sectors of education and training including networks for higher education, vocational education and training, adult education and popular education; networks for students, educational advisors, teachers and trainers.

The purpose of the conference is to draw together teacher educators and others from Europe and beyond with an interest in pre-school and primary teacher education and professional development.

The outcome of the conference will be an electronic publication of the proceedings which will consist of comparative approaches and ideas about pre-school and primary education teacher education and professional development in Europe.

Early Years has been declared a priority for the European Commission for Education and Culture for the period 2011 – 2016.

The ENQA-VET Conference 2009 will be hosted jointly by SKOLVERKET and the SECRETARIAT and is an associated activity of the Swedish EU Presidency Programme. It will take place in Stockholm on 3-4 December.

The aim of this conference is to bring together key VET actors: policymakers, social partners, employers, providers and learners in order to reflect creatively on the challenges faced by VET systems today which are testing the capacity of quality management approaches and European policies to influence and support policymaking and implementation in the difficult contexts in which countries and systems find themselves.

During the Swedish Presidency, a conference on vocational education and training will be arranged in Stockholm on 12–13 November. The purpose of the conference is to offer an arena for sharing experience, knowledge, ideas and possible solutions related to current issues and challenges in the development of vocational education and training (VET). The conference will focus on VET for adults at both upper secondary and post-secondary levels.

What does quality mean, and how can it be assessed in the context of educating the adult educator and trainer in Europe today? This is the main theme of the inaugural network meeting. The network’s inaugural meeting is planned to be a forum for exchanging theoretical considerations and empirical evidence, between researchers studying the different roles and tasks of the adult educator and trainer and the ways that these are assessed, as well as issues relating to the quality of their training (initial and continuing) and their professional development. The meeting aims to bring together participants from different disciplines and countries who are interested in these topics. The conference is also open to practitioners who are working in adult training organizations or educational structures that provide for adults including universities.

The Meeting of Directors-General for Vocational Training is an informal meeting held during every EU Presidency. Senior officials from the Member States and from applicant and observer countries are invited to the meeting, together with representatives of the European Commission, the European social partners, the European Training Foundation (ETF) and the European Centre for the Development of Vocational Training (Cedefop).

The purpose is to provide the opportunity for exchange of experience and to discuss current issues relating to vocational training in the EU context.

The Presidency and the Commission are jointly responsible for planning the meeting and its content. The theme of the meeting in Västerås is Vocational education and training – labour market – quality assurance.

The conference will provide the opportunity to present and discuss Cedefop’s research results from the view point of European and national education and training policy, research, the labour market and the individuals. The event will bring together government experts, social partners, academia and other stakeholders from all over Europe to discuss the overall implications of the changes in the role and functions of qualifications to support policy development and cooperation in education and training at national and European level

The overall priority of the EU Lifelong Learning Programme, LLP, is that general education and vocational training shall contribute to achieving the goals of the Lisbon Strategy making EU the most competitive economy in the world, reaching a higher degree of social cohesion and strengthening sustainable development. LLP also affects ecological and social issues, improving the contribution of Lifelong Learning to active citizenship, intercultural dialogue and respect for human rights. The EU is one of the key actors in this work.

The International Programme Office for Education and Training is arranging this conference in cooperation with the Municipality of Lund, the University of Lund and RCE Skåne.

Through concrete examples, the speakers will show how schools, networks and associations contribute in this process notably through their participation in European mobility programmes. How to create the conditions for a better appropriation of the European construction?

The conference organisers welcome contributions that are based on original research work and allow for a knowledge transfer on the basis  of the international state of the art to regional and national as well as European policy-makers and practitioners.The conference will take place in Torino, Italy, and will provide a forum for researchers in vocational education and training and experts to discuss innovative  concepts of apprenticeship training. Detailed travel information will be provided by the organisers in due course.
