"Common steps for a common future"

EVTA’s MISSION:
               EVTA is a European network that supports its members in their respective answers to the challenges
               of growth, competitiveness and social cohesion in the field of Life-Long Learning.

EVTA’s VALUES:
• European mindset
• Visibility
• Tolerance and respect
• Attractiveness
• Professionalism
• Innovation
• Independence

EVTA’s VISION:

EVTA is recognized as the reference network which is seen as a leading partner by the relevant actors in Europe in the field of Life-Long Learning and the management of professional competences.

EVTA is a vocational training network comprised of 18 members from 14 European countries, representing national training and, in certain cases, national employment services,. Between them EVTA's members manage  approximately 2000 regional and local training centres, employ 50,000 trainers, psychologists and advisors, train over 1,000,000 people per year and handle a multibillion Euro budget.

Our members reflect different national approaches to vocational training.

*       Some are centralized and others decentralized ;

*       Some are public and others private ;

*       Some are dedicated to vocational training only, while others are integrated vocational training and employment services.

EVTA’s members are closely linked to the employment services in their respective countries and are contributing to the implementation of a European employment strategy :

*       - Through dialogue with the social partners at European level;

*       - By participating with existing bodies in the promotion of European policies and actions for the

*         development of lifelong learning;

*       - By representing the interests and opinions of numerous players concerned by vocational training to

*         the European Institutions and social and economic organizations;

*       - By opening their Website, to any European player interested in the field of vocational training.

What are our strategic axes?

9 strategic axes have been elaborated during the Hassonville meeting on 9th -11th May 2005. Defining a strategy means that a choice should be made out of priorities. On the basis of the priorities selected, strategic and functional objectives are defined.

For the period of 2005-2008 EVTA has defined 8 strategic objectives (axes), which are presented in the following article. The order of strategic axes does not reflect any order of priority. You will also find the internal sponsor of those axes, the people in charge of these objectives.

 1) Increasing number of members

It is fundamental for EVTA as a network to have a broad basis of members all over Europe.  The focus lies on the following members:

Ø      EU member states before 2004 enlargement (UK, Austria,...)

Ø      New EU members after 2004 enlargement

Ø      Future EU members (with ongoing accession negotiations)

Ø      New partners in EU member states with already a member

2) Mutualisation of products

EVTA sees the sharing of knowledge and products through its network as a primary task, as it increases the benefit of membership for its members.  An overview of the available competences and products of EVTA’s members is a starting point for this strategic axis.

Next to that, EVTA will focus its projects on the following two sectors of excellence: E-learning and Train the Trainers.

The exchange of the products of EVTA’s members will be supported by the go-to market strategy and the ICT strategy of the organization.

 3) Innovation

The projects for innovation will be evaluated in terms of strategic added value for EVTA’s members and the generation of financial resources.

EVTA will focus on European or multi-national calls for tender and the establishment of a certification framework for vocational training in Europe.

Also the project execution will happen according to the principles defined in the strategic axis ‘Culture of Planning’.

 4) Financing strategy

Currently, one-third of EVTA’s budget is funded by the Board Treasury.

These Board Treasury contributions will be reduced through:

Ø       A careful cost-revenue analysis for the development of new products.

Ø       An active policy to increase EVTA’s revenues by:

Ø      Increasing membership

Ø      Attracting subsidies of the European Commission

Ø      The development of new products

 5) Marketing strategy

EVTA’s vision is to be recognized as a reference network of LLL and the management of professional competences.

This can only be realized if EVTA develops a strong brand image.  This strategy implies:

Ø      The development of a common approach (marketing plan) towards players on the market.

Ø      A change of the General Secretariat’s function into a co-ordination and production centre

Ø      The establishment of a price policy for products

 6) Member’s commitment

The purpose of EVTA as a network is to share and develop products.  This can only be achieved in a successful way if every member commits itself to sharing its specific competence with the network. Member’s commitment to EVTA will be increased through:

Ø      The involvement of top managers of EVTA’s members through yearly meetings.

Ø      In order to measure how well the network is functioning, indicators will be developed for:

·        the interaction between members

·        the contribution of each member to the network

Ø       Member’s satisfaction of EVTA will be measured.

7) ICT strategy

The development of a portal is crucial to the further development of EVTA as a network. It will help to realize the following points:

Ø      An increase in the sharing and exchange of products and knowledge

Ø      An increase in the use of EVTA’s IT platform by its members

Ø      An integration of member’s IT system with EVTA’s IT platform

The portal plays a central role in the realization of EVTA’s go-to-market strategy and the mutualization of its products.

8) Planning

As professionalism is one of the basic values of EVTA, its activities will be supported by a Project Management Office (PMO).

Every proposal for a new project/product should be accompanied by:

Ø      A declaration of the Board of why the project/product is in line with EVTA’s strategy

Ø      The name of the person responsible for the project/product

Ø      A financial plan

Ø      A development plan

Ø      An evaluation plan
