In the past decade urban systems and town centre management schemes have been undergoing dramatic changes. The spreading of large commercial developments, the clustering between public and private stakeholders, the changes in customers habits and lifestyles, changes in economy, politics demography and culture, all have determined radical changes, substantiating the need for a joint management of all the interests and stakeholders of the urban system.
Starting from experiences in the UK, in various countries national policies to experiment local schemes of TCM: Town Centre Management were introduced. Such structures generally consists of public/ private partnerships aiming at enhancing city centers’ liveliness, in order to retain resident and preserve central areas´ appeal.
TCM organizations are coordinated by a manager (Town Centre Manager).
This project is focused on analyzing, studying his/her professional profile, comparing the different experiences carried out so far in the countries where the different partners operate.
