EVTA and mobility
In 2006 and 2007, EVTA has contributed to the study on the obstacles to transnational mobility faced apprentices and other young people in initial vocational training and on ways of overcoming them’ also referred to as the MoVE-iT* project. Read more in the final report of the project.
In this study, the following "top 5" of obstacles were defined for learners mobility in VET.
| ▪ | Lack of quality in mobility (frameworks, work placements, pedagogical aspects); |
| ▪ | Lack of awareness of the benefits for mobility (publicity, image, exchange of knowledge and experience on mobility activities); |
| ▪ | Lack of sustainable strategies for the implementation of mobility; |
| ▪ | Lack of support mechanism (funding arrangements, placement finding, service provision for SMEs); |
| ▪ | Legal and administrative procedures; |
Via European projects, EVTA contributes to overcome the obstacles for mobility within the network. A selection is provided below.

Quality

EU-Move: European Mobility Portal for Vocational Education and Training (ongoing till end of 2010)
This projects aims to set up a mobility portal for the sectors hospitality and (international) trade. The portal provides information, links, preparatory units for all actors involved in transnational mobility: companies, mentors in the workplacement companies, VET providers/ trainers and trainees. Trainees can find here in the sectoral databases workplacements all over Europe for these sectors. more

INTENT: International Entrepreneurship (ongoing till end of 2009)
This projects aims to promote the integration of international entrepreneurship in VET. the project focusses on the development of a competence profile for an international entrepreneur (with the focus on intercultural competences), the development of a training unit and assessment standards. ECVET principles are taken into account to support students to do (a part of) this training unit abroad. more

TIPTOE: Testing and Implementing EQF Principles in Trade Organisations and Eucation (ongoing till end of 2010)
The TIPTOE project proposes to tackle the problem of interpretation and application of EQF- and ECVET-principles within the trade sector. TIPTOE proposes to overcome not only the gap between the different European VET- and qualification systems, but also the (cultural) differences in the meaning, content and interpretation of tasks and functions on the European labour market in the trade sector. more

Transvalp (finished)
Development of an assessment and validation system for professional language skills in different sectors. It is based on professional and language standards and thresholds clearly identified in the professional sector and in the European common framework (Common European Framework of References for Languages). more

Key to mobility (ongoing)
The main aims of the project are to provide disadvantaged young people with key international vocational competences crucial for their integration in further training and/or the labour market, to improve the framework conditions for mobility for youth at risk and exploring the possibility of certifying this training module as an additional module for teachers. more

Awareness

One composition, 25 movements: European year of workers´ mobility 2006
The project constitutes a European mobility promotion package targeted at Civil Society in general. The main project outputs were a European mobility website in all European languages and a one day mobility promotion/awareness campaign in the free daily "METRO" newspaper. more

Sustainable strategies

ECVET Synergie: (EVTA is involved in the Scientific Committee of ECVET Synergie)
In order to promote the implementation of ECVET in the member states, the European Commission has established an ECVET European Network. This network is supported by "ECVET Synergie", which has the objective to sustain the ECVET European network and the European Commission in order to promote ECVET and to provide stakeholders and ECVET promoters with advice and support for implementation for the next three years.

RECOMFOR:
RECOMFOR is built upon the results of the COMINTER project, which involved producing a common profile for the occupation of import-export assistant, a common, ECVET-compliant, unit-based certification profile with flexible application rules specific to the country, to provide a sound basis for a mobility network. RECOMFOR is establishing a permanently coordinated network structure bringing together the relevant actors involved in ECVET. more

EES: European Employment Strategies
The project EES resulted in a seminar which will included high-level participants from most of the European National Employment and Vocational Training organisations and Civil Society representatives from European networks to discuss the results of the way in which each of the consulted parties understands the EES, the current divergences/convergences of each organisation with the EES and the steps that these organisations are taking to increase convergence. more

ECVET Connexion: (with the involvement of EVTA members)
The ECVET principles. These principles aim to improve the transparency of qualifications and therefore the transfer and mobility of individuals; In the project "ECVET connexion" a study on the feasibility of an ECVET accreditation and accumulation system in vocational training is carried out. CERTICOM: Certified workplacement companies (ongoing)
CERTICOM is a system to improve the quality and quantity of mobility of learners abroad. It is a tool for students to find a certified workplacement abroad. Companies can register themselves as a workplacement and tutors in companies find here tools and instruments to organize, implement and assess the workplacements. more

Pathways for skillstransfer (finished)
PFST will create a model to identify and overcome existing barriers to the transferability of vocational qualifications for men and women working in the construction industry. The project will enable a matrix of acceptable vocational qualifications to be created. The matrix will help to identify training gaps and additional training needs for people whose qualifications cannot be recognized across EU member states and to identify and overcome the barriers to the transferability of vocational qualifications across EU member states. more

MOLPEA: Modular Leonardo Projects Exploitation Approach (finished)
An integrated vocational training product sharing system with the intention that the most important didactic modules of each full product be considered as potentially combinable to create new and very cost effective training products, according to the principles of the newly emerging field of individualized instructional design. more
