Mr President, ladies and gentlemen, my name is Tony Mobbs, I'm a principal consultant in the newly formed action research centre for organisational complexities inside IBM.
The centre was set up to look at innovative ways of investigating knowledge and knowledge sharing within organisations. So I'm going to share some knowledge with you this afternoon, some of our lessons that we've learned both within IBM and with some of our customers in terms of how they have shared knowledge successfully and in some cases probably not so successfully within the organisation itself...

Good morning and welcome to everybody. Lifelong learning. A bit of a challenge that really, isn't it? I was just thinking last night in terms of, in my life when I was learning to drive a car. And you think in your early childhoods, that you sat in the back of your parents' car and you were completely oblivious of wanting to drive the car, so you could think of yourselves as unconsciously incompetent. But then one day you decided you'd like to start to drive a car, and then that moved you to another state. If anybody remembers when they started to drive their car it was one of conscious incompetence....
